Meet Landry

AgeYoung BreedGerman Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever Sexmale, neutered

Landry is a 2 year sold German Shepard/Lab mix. He is around 40lbs and has a lot of playfulness in him. He came to us from the area shelter. He does well with other dogs. Landry would prefer a home with only 1 or 2 residents. Landry does best in an environment where he isn't forced to be social with people. He can become nervous and act out when he is required to meet new people or is spooked by strangers. Landry walks like a pro on a nose halter and enjoys exploring trails on-lead. We would love to speak with you about Landry and his needs when selecting the perfect home for him. Landry would love to be your main squeeze. Landry is 2 years old, 40lbs, German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix. Body like a Lab, Color like a German Shepherd, Floppy Ears. Good with female dogs. NO Cats or Children. Healthy, Introverted, Prefers Women, Playful, Toy and Food Possessive, Sweet. Landry's About Me: First rule when you come to see me, Don't behave like a stranger. I don't like strangers and have walls in place to protect myself. So I am happy to have visitors, but if I get upset then please walk away for a while. I will only continue to get more upset if you stare. I am even more guarded against men. My favorite toy is a plush, fluffy crocodile, but I don't get to keep him with me much when I am here. I carried him everywhere I went my first day here, but as I made doggy friends, the crocodile went away. I like my new friends though, I am very popular with the ladies. Especially the high energy, playful ones. Right now my playmate is Sable. She has way more energy than I do, but I still enjoy her company. I often look to the humans to be sure I am doing a good job, so I need a confident and sweet owner that can give me the love and direction I need. Though I could have up to 2 humans, I will bond and love one human unconditionally. Unfortunately, because I am so anti-social, I need to be walked with a nose halter so everyone is comfortable. I don't mind it since it helps me be a good boy. I only respond well to positive reinforcement and I know 'Down' and how to sit and shake. My humans here will want to talk to you about me since I have so many wonderful qualities and you may need to visit me multiple times before you see them all, but I hope you will consider that time well spent. I know I will. All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to FCHS, which is a NO kill facility. The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. Please visit our website under adoptable pets for a range of adoptions fees. All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (dogs) and placed on preventative, microchipped, and more. You can find our adoption application at https://www.plannedpethoodrockymount.com/adoptions. Applications or questions can be emailed to adoptions@plannedpethoodrockymount.com. Please email for faster response or come on by during our business hours. Please do not call, this may cause delay because we receive a high volume of calls each day and operate with a small staff. Please submit your application once you see a pet you are interested in. Adoption Center hours are Tuesday - Friday 12-6 and Saturday 11-4.
