German Shepherd Dog
Hi my name is Poppy, I am 11 months old, and have had kind of a rough start at life. BHS has been there to help me every step of the way, and for that I am so thankful. I am with a great foster family now who is doing everything they can to set me up for success. My new foster mom has the coolest donkey and we became fast friends! See I was adopted and returned to BHS because of an incident with a kitty. I mainly lived in the basement of my old home because my mom had to work quite a bit and there were kitty roommates who ran free. I did have free access to a fenced yard while she was away with a doggie door in the basement. Being a very large puppy I just needed more attention and training. My mom didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time with me but did walk me daily. I didn’t get to meet any new furry friends, so I don’t really know how to play and can be a little rough. I am learning now that other dogs don’t like to be played with that rough and I need to be gentler I am certainly a work in progress. My foster mom is working real hard with me on my manners and is always calling me a fast learner and so smart! She has taught me to sit, shake, and down. Now I know if she has a treat I must sit and take it very gently or I don’t get to have it. I love kids, I think they are so much fun to run around with! I really love my foster mom, her family, and my donkey friend but I know this is just temporary. I am hoping my new family will read this and send their application.
Poppy has been dewormed, microchipped, tested for heartworm disease and is on preventative medication. Poppy is spayed and has received the Distemper-Parvo combination vaccine, Kennel Cough vaccine and Rabies vaccine.
