CHOIRS STORY CHOIRS came to the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection at the very young age of one year old when she was picked up as a stray and her owner never came for her. CHOIRS spent the entire second year of her life living at the shelter and was very well taken care of there. While living at the shelter, CHOIRS became fearful of being around other dogs and it was deemed that she would need to be pulled by a rescue who would be willing to work with her to help her overcome her fears. Smiles Forever Animal Rescue came to CHOIRS rescue in late February and so her journey began! Volunteers at the shelter were able to raise donations through the generosity of local donors in our community to take the steps necessary to try and give CHOIRS the life that she so deserved. CHOIRS spent the first 4-5 weeks of her journey with Martje at Hercs Haven decompressing and learning to live outside of the shelter. While at Hercs, CHOIRS was evaluated by an animal behaviorist and it was determined that CHOIRS was exhibiting signs of fear aggression toward other dogs. Considering the fact that CHOIRS had never really been socialized with other dogs and unfortunately did not know how to properly interact with them, our only chance of helping CHOIRS was to enroll her in a board to train program to help her overcome her fears and learn to be a normal dog for the very first time in her life! CHOIRS entered an extensive board to train program with Jessica Troop at The Balance Dog in mid- April and has made amazing progress under Jessica's care. CHOIRS spent several weeks at the training center and has spent the past 4-5 weeks living in Jessica's home with her and 5 other dogs! CHOIRS is now READY and AVAILABLE to be placed in a loving FOREVER HOME who will continue to work with her and give her the life that she has never had in her short 2-1/2 years of life. Jessica Troop has offered to provide ongoing support and training for CHOIRS as she begins this next phase of her journey to becoming the best dog that she can be! We are so very excited for this precious pup and are now on a mission to find the perfect home for her!
